Objectives

The objectives of the “India Innovation Initiative 2017” are:

  • 1To train an entire cadre of trainers – incubator faculty, young academics, venture capitalists, angel investors and fund/loan managers - and equip them to support the pre-incubation training needs of individuals innovators, from both rural and urban areas, to help the innovators to commercialise their innovations and set up their own business ventures.
  • 2To enable pre-screening of innovators by the certified trainers or panel of experts so that only those applicants with breakthrough and disruptive innovations, and a demonstrable interest to commercialise their innovations, are selected to undergo training from among the entire batch of applicants.
  • 3To equip the screened innovators, selected to participate in the pre-incubation regional workshops, with necessary knowledge in the areas of defining a business problem, carving a solution, conducting market research and creating a business plan so that they are able to launch their own small enterprises and are better prepared to seek incubation and funding support.
  • 4Creating and further building an ecosystem of facilitators, certified trainers, mentors, incubators, investors and beneficiaries (innovators and early-stage entrepreneurs).

India Innovation Initiative 2017

India Innovation Initiative or i3 is one of India's largest and most-awaited innovation challenges jointly-promoted by the Confederation of Indian Industry, the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to identify, reward and recognize the top innovators from across the country and to enable commercialisation of the best, home-grown innovations through incubation support, mentorship, investor and industry connect. Now in its 9th edition, the focus of i3 2017 is on identifying high-potential innovators who have developed innovations with high-impact, and orienting and training them to become entrepreneurs. This year, the focus is on the human aspect, developing key entrepreneurship skills of innovators for maximum impact.
